Carnival cruise ship cookies for a large family cruise vacation. This was another instance where I had a plan in my head, but couldn't find a cutter that matched up. So, I sketched and cut out my own template. I was very pleased with how they turned out! I like feeling more comfortable with cutting out my own templates, because this just opens up possibilities if cutters are not available.
All ready to set sail!

Frozen Inspired Snowflakes and 4's
I was asked to do some Frozen inspired snowflakes for another sweet
little girl's birthday this weekend. She was turning 4 and we had some
4's to go along with the snowflakes. I really liked the color palette I
ended up with and really loved the luster dust and sanding sugar on the
cookies. It made them the right amount of sparkly and girly,
but also gave them the appropriate icy look. These Frozen cookies have
made me excited about the Christmas cookies I can make with all my new
fun cutters and decorations. I am enjoying and appreciating all the
cookie orders!

Frozen Inspired Princess Crowns
It was only a matter of time, right? I knew there would come a day
for Frozen cookies. These were some heavy cookies. They felt like they
had real jewels! But they were super fun to make. The sparkly ones
always are.
I was beginning to add the details and Mitchell said, "Why are you adding stuff?" When I finished, I showed them to him. I had not mentioned I was making Frozen princess crowns. He looked at them, gasped, and said, "Mommy, it's like the movie. There's snowflakes and everything from Elsa's crown. It's just like the movie. You made a part of the movie! I cannot believe it!" Completely made my day! And made me more secure that little kids would indeed think they were "like the movie."
Happy Birthday to a special 5-year-old!!

Nursery Themed Cookies
Spontaneously I decided to make a few cookies for Erin and Michela
for our visits this week, because every new mom needs sugar, and I
decided to do them based on each of their nursery decor. I didn't have
the actual cutters I needed and improvised. An egg cutter made a cute
owl, a heart with an arrow passed for a bird, a monkey face and ears
became a cute frog face, and I cut out the turtles on my own. I had a
lot of fun on these quick cookies. Mitchell had a lot of fun begging for
leftovers. He got to decorate a couple of his own.

Princess Crown Cookies
Some sparkly princess crowns for a certain little princess turning 5. I helped provide some take-home treats.
There was a bit of a cookie crisis when my royal icing decided to turn into sticky marshmallow fluff instead of drying and hardening. I was panicking. This happens to me very rarely, but it was humid the night I decorated them. I'm thinking that was the culprit.
I went ahead and dusted them with pearl dust and adored the way they sparkled. I think I may be obsessed with the stuff now. But there is still a fine haze of sparkles floating around our kitchen. And even after I showered, I am still shimmery.
The pearl dust actually helped and made it possible to bag them. It ended up working out and they ended up staying cute. I was worried!

Teacher Retirement Party Cookies
As if I didn't already have enough to do, I completely and willingly took a cookie order. Even with all I had going on, I still had fun making these. While I was tinting my icing this time, I used some different colors to achieve my pencil colors and felt like it was touch and go for awhile. I wasn't sure how close to actual pencil color they were, so this morning I grabbed a number 2 pencil to compare. And crazy as it seems, it was spot on! Lucky, lucky...
